The ohio state ski & board team

The Ohio State Ski & Board Team is a club sport at Ohio State. Our primary goal is to get as many people out on the hill as possible. With that in mind, we offer discounted season passes to Mad River Mountain, ski and snowboard racing, and an annual winter break trip.

Mad River Mountain, conveniently located 45 minutes from campus in Bellefontaine, is our main hill. Most of our members purchase a season pass and go to Mad River at least twice a week to work on their turns or ride the rails in Capital Park. We have members of every ability shredding all season, including completely new skiers and boarders to some who have been riding for more than half their lives. The point is that everyone is heading out to the hill to learn something new or to improve something old. Progression is the goal.

Although Ski Team (as we are colloquially known) is a big group, we remain close-knit throughout the year by keeping group activities going in the off-season. We like to keep everyone stoked by putting on some ski movie premiers, going on our annual camping trip, volunteering, and having socials.

The heart of our organization is our race team. In January and February, we take five weekends to go race each other and teams of other schools at different resorts in Ohio and Michigan. In the past we have raced at Snowtrails, Boston Mills/Brandywine, Mad River Mountain, Crystal Mountain, and Marquette Mountain. Although racing is not mandatory, we do highly recommend it to all members of any ski ability. It's a dope way to spend the first two blistery months of Spring semester.

However, we do not require members to race in order to join us on race weekends at these different resorts. Whether you want to be timed or not, we'll show you Ohio and Michigan skiing in ways you've never seen it before.

Our premier event for the entire season is our winter break trip. Stop by one of our meetings or sign up for our newsletter to see where we are going this year.

If any of this sounds interesting and you're looking to make some of the best friends you'll meet throughout your time at OSU, show up at a meeting and introduce yourself. You will not regret it.
